Health and Sustainability Benefits of Westchester's Trees and Forests

This educational workshop will present research on the benefits of trees and forests in Westchester for cooling neighborhoods and for absorbing and sequestering carbon from the air. This research has been supported in part with a grant from the DEC Hudson River Estuary Program and led by Dr. Andrew Reinmann, in partnership with Westchester County.

Speakers will discuss related work in Yonkers and other places in Westchester, and provide an overview of the ongoing New York State climate planning process and how it is addressing priorities including heat island mitigation, stormwater management and flooding, and the value of forests for carbon sequestration.
